Motivation
The possible future of my seniors is living alone
I grew up under the same roof as my father, but it was my aunt who raised me. Ever since I moved north for college, a constant worry has lingered: what if my career takes me even further away? My aunt would be left all alone at home.
Research
Living alone among the elderly is an emerging trend in asia
The number of living alone has been steadily increasing as the population continues to age. Within this context, the most significant key challenges faced by elderly individuals living alone stem from their residential environments’ limited ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner—such as falls at home—as well as the increasing sense of loneliness resulting from prolonged social isolation.
User Interview
Parents support their children’s independence while still wanting to stay emotionally connected
I want to emphasize the user, their personal items, and the abstract relationship of interaction, making the high stool a part of the space rather than an obvious product within it.
